New Dust Covers for XLR-Format Connectors
Dust covers are now available for CLIFF™ Electronics feedthrough and XLR-format connectors.
CLIFF™ Electronics, market leader in feedthrough and standard connectors, supplied in the industry-standard, 24 mm diameter, XLR-panel, cut-out, can now provide dust covers to prevent the ingress of dust and dirt.
Dust covers offer protection for unmated fibre-optic fiber-optic connectors and other control interfaces which need to remain uncontaminated when not in use or in storage. Applications include outside broadcast and events, instrumentation, education, industrial and agriculture.
Dust covers are currently available for six different connector types:
- USB2-A and USB3-A
- USB2-B
- USB3-B
- USB-C
- RJ45
- HDMI
It is important to protect metal and fibre-optic fiber-optic contacts from contamination.
The dust covers simply push into the front of the connector and are compatible with both plastic and metal XLR-format connectors. A small hole is provided in the handle to allow covers to be tied together for storage or attached to the panel if required. Cliff™ dust covers are available in black as standard with custom colours colors available on request, subject to a minimum order quantity.
John Hall, Managing Director of CLIFF™ Electronics, comments; “Dust covers are a logical extension to our XLR-format and feedthrough connector range. When equipment is in storage or a connector is unused in an installation it is important to protect the contacts, whether metal or fibre-optic fiber-optic from contamination. Our new range of dust covers offers users a low cost way to protect equipment and ensure its reliability.”.
The Cliff™ feedthrough series of true, feedthrough, data connectors for electrical and electronic instrumentation are perfect when developing custom I/O configurations for wall plates, enclosures, rack panels etc. All fit within a standard XLR panel cut-out and use common, standard cabling for front and back connections with no soldering or screw terminal connections required. Feedthrough connectors may be mounted from the front or back of a panel and a low rear profile accommodates the tightest behind-the-panel spaces. Pre-assembled 19″ rack panels fitted with a range of feedthrough and standard connectors are available from Cliff™ to simplify end system assembly.
Cliff™’s XLR-format connectors take advantage of the standard 24 mm diameter panel cut-out widely used in audio and broadcast systems. This is increasingly popular in instrumentation, medical and industrial applications due to the format’s flexibility, security and reliability. Blank socket plates are also now available for customers to create custom connector solutions.
Available versions include RJ45, HDMI, BNC and USB3.0 compliant single and dual versions. Analogue, digital and optical feedthrough connectivity is available in formats including Firewire, HDMI A-to-A and 50 ohm BNC versions, USB2 A-to-B and B-to-A changer sockets and USB3 to USB3 in various configurations. Also available are popular data and ethernet connectors including LC and SC fibre, fiber, (Duplex and Simplex), UTP and FTP RJ45s in both Cat6 and Cat5e, (shielded and unshielded), TOSLINK and RCA phono. phono / cinch.
